Better Hearing Co. was created for people who want hearing care done properly.

For many adults, hearing changes affect confidence, relationships, and enjoyment of everyday life. We believe these changes deserve time, explanation, and professional guidance- not rushed appointments or pressure to make quick decisions.

Better Hearing Co. was founded by Sam Sloane, a Christchurch local with a long-standing commitment to thoughtful, professional hearing care.

Sam completed a Master’s degree in Audiology in 2013 and has since worked in clinics across New Zealand. Over the past 13 years in practice, he has carried out thousands of hearing assessments, hearing aid fittings and tinnitus consultations

More than experience, however, Better Hearing Co. was shaped by something personal.

Sam’s grandmother, Jane, was a strong and independent woman. As a single mother raising four children, she built a successful career in physiotherapy during the 1960s and 70s — a time when that path was far from easy. Later in life, she developed hearing loss but never sought the support she needed.

She avoided hearing clinics due to negative perceptions of hearing aids and the stigma often associated with hearing loss.

With his grandmother in mind, Sam set out to create a hearing clinic which feels calm, respectful, and welcoming. A place where people feel listened to, clearly informed, and never pressured. A clinic he would have felt comfortable encouraging his own grandmother to attend.

Better Hearing Co. exists to provide hearing care you can trust- not just for individuals, but for families-with the intention of serving the Christchurch community for many years to come.
